What is the American Singles Golf Association?

Four Golfer

No one really knows. Our best guess is that it’s a bunch of people who are single (i.e. never married, divorced, widowed, or legally separated), age 21 or over who really, really, really enjoy golf.

There are 50+ clubs in the U. S. They each meet during the second or third week of the month (because there are generally no holidays during those weeks). They meet on a week night, usually from 6-8 pm at a local restaurant. A good turnout for meetings is important because SINGLES WANT TO MEET OTHER SINGLES, so members are always encouraged to BRING A FRIEND to the meeting, monthly social, golf outings, cookouts . . . anything the club is involved in.

The meetings are fun and informal. Most clubs have guest speakers occasionally (not every meeting!), and these people speak about golf - about how to improve your game, how to read greens, etc. The members come away from the meetings with thoughts like "I really met some nice people" and "I’m excited about improving my golf game." They know that playing golf once or twice each month with other singles will improve their game and enhance their social life and they look forward to this involvement.

Although the song says "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun," our scientific research found that guys "wanna have fun just as much." (Speaking of girls - did you know that nationally, our male/female ratio is within 1% of being 50/50!! Some clubs start out with more girls than guys - or vice-versa, but eventually, the membership levels out to 50% men, 50% women!)

The people who show up at meetings and outings are there for the enjoyment of the club. But each club has to have some organization, and that comes in the form of a club president, four committee heads, a secretary, treasurer, you know, the usual club stuff. Without this structure, your club will simply fall apart and people will stop having fun. Run a good club and your members will have fun. They’ll meet quality friends in quantity. Singles Golf will FORCE them to have a social life. And after all is said and done in life, it’s your friends and family that you remember most.

That’s kind of what Singles Golf is all about . .
. . . fun, fellowship and fairways!
